Course Reserves and Browser Issues

3rd Party Cookies

To access our e-reserves system, your browser will need to allow third-party cookies for both Canvas and our e-reserves system. If you encounter errors when attempting to access e-reserves, please follow the instructions below to add third-party cookie exceptions for the e-reserves system and for Canvas to your browser.

Please note that extensions such as Privacy Badger may also block login to the e-reserves system. If you follow the instructions below and still cannot log into the e-reserves system, please disable any privacy extensions that you have installed in your browser or add exceptions to them for https://grinnell.instructure.com and https://grinnell.ares.atlas-sys.com

Browser Instructions

Go to the top right corner and click the 3 vertical dots:

 

Click on "Settings" and then "Privacy and Security":

 

Then select "Third-party cookies":

 

Add exceptions for grinnell.instructure.com and grinnell.ares.atlas-sys.com:

 

You may then need to clear cookies for atlas-sys.com and restart the browser.

At the top right, click the three dots to go to Settings:

 

Click on "Privacy, search, and services":

 

Click on "Tracking prevention":

 

On the next page, click on "Exceptions":

 

Add exceptions for grinnell.ares.atlas-sys.com and grinnell.instructure.com:

You may then need to clear cookies for atlas-sys.com and restart the browser.

Click on the three bars in the far right corner of the screen:

Click on "Settings":

 

Click on "Privacy & Security":

 

Then click "Manage Exceptions":

 

Add exceptions for https://grinnell.ares.atlas-sys.com and https://grinnell.instructure.com:

 

You may then need to clear cookies for atlas-sys.com and restart the browser.

Safari's cross-site tracking options do not allow users to add exceptions for individual sites, so accessing e-reserves in Safari requires allowing cross-site tracking across all websites you visit. Given the privacy risks of allowing cross-site tracking, the Libraries recommend that you use a different browser to access your e-reserves. However, if you are willing to accept the privacy risks, the instructions below will allow you to access e-reserves in Safari.

 

Open the "Safari" menu at the top of the screen and select "Settings...": 

 

Go to "Privacy" and make sure the box by "Prevent cross-site tracking" is not ticked:

 

Click on "Advanced Settings" at the bottom of the page:

 

Unselect "Block All Cookies" if that setting is an option in your iOS version. 

 

Restart Safari.

Safari's cross-site tracking options do not allow users to add exceptions for individual sites, so accessing e-reserves in Safari requires allowing cross-site tracking across all websites you visit. Given the privacy risks of allowing cross-site tracking, the Libraries recommend that you use a different browser to access your e-reserves. However, if you are willing to accept the privacy risks, the instructions below will allow you to access e-reserves in Safari.

 

Go to "Settings":

 

Scroll down and choose "Apps":

 

Choose "Safari":

 

 

In the "Privacy & Security" section, toggle off "Block All Cookies" if that setting is an option in your iOS version. You will know it is off when the slider turns grey.

Also ensure "Prevent Cross-Site Tracking" is toggled off:

 

Restart Safari.
