An Annotated Bibliography ~

What is it? How do I format it?

An annotated bibliography is a list of sources that also provides a brief paragraphy about that source. 

Each source listing has 2 components

  • A full citation to the source

The  should be formatted using the citation style indicated in the assignment. 

For this tutorial you should use the MLA Citation style

Example:

Jones, Susan. "The impact of language loss on maintaining ethnic identity." Journal of

Immigration & Emmigration. Vol. 24: 5 (2016) 24-36.

  • A paragraphy describing the content of the source

Under the citation, after a space, provide the paragraph describing the source .  Different professors may specify different elements to include or focus on in the description.  For this assignment, the professor wants you to provide a brief paragraph describing the content of the source in relation to your topic. 

Example of an Annotated Citation in MLA style 

Jones, Tyler. "Social Media Use as ." Journal of

Immigration & Emmigration. Vol. 24: 5 (2016) 24-36.  In this article the author has gathered data on Mexican American communities in 3 US cities
