Chicago Manual of Style in the Context of Art History

This guide provides guidance in using the Chicago Manual of Style in the context of Art History papers and projects

Spacing & Indenting

Footnotes

Spacing - The line spacing for footnotes should be the same as that for the main text of the paper - Double-Spaced.  Do not put an extra space between footnotes.

Indenting - Footnotes should have a 1st line indent only.  So, just like new paragraphs

Works Cited / Bibliography

Spacing - Works Cited lists or Bibliographies should also be double-spaced.  There should not be an extra space between entries

Indenting - Entries should have a hanging indent instead of a 1st line indent.  This means the first line is not indented, but the subsequent lines are.
